@ the 空港

Wow got through customs really fast. I’m near my gate on the free wireless internet drinking a beer writing this post. I’ve got like 30 min till we all line up. My flight is super short, only 9 hours to San Francisco, but I have a three hour lay over there before continuing to Los Angeles.

Saying goodbye to my hostmom was super sad, I almost cried. Bleh. Well I’ll post again when I get to my Mom’s house.

就職をした!

三田で英会話とPreschoolに就職をした!

I was offered, and I took a job in Sanda (about an hour’s train ride from Kobe/Osaka) teaching kids, preschool and up! My mom and sister are here so I’m really tired and don’t feel like typing any more, but more information will be posted soon!

Yay, I get to return to Japan!

I’ve had a great time with all of you. Thank you so much for such a great last 9 months. All of this hasn’t really hit me yet, but I am sure it will soon. Here’s those photos that I took last night I hope you enjoy them.

For the people who don’t quite get what’s going on.
These are the photos from the farewell party thrown for this year’s Konan Univ. exchange students. Unless you’re one of us these photos won’t mean much, but for me these are photographs priceless.

Celebrity sponcership in Japan is already funny, but this one is... well I don't know what to think about it.
Rainbow Mountain Blend isn't a really manly name for a drink either.

Julie, Greg, Tez, and I went a bit wacky with the MacBook after class today and took these photos. Super fun. Mildly scary. Check out the Fun With Photobooth set on my Flickr

Earthquake in Wakayama city

There was just an earthquake. It was a level 1 on the Japanese scale around my area, but it was centered around where I might get a job in Wakayama.

Here’s the information from the JMA earthquake page
Earthquake Information (Information about Seismic Intensity at each site) Issued at 01:48 JST 15 May 2006 Occurred at (JST) Latitude (degree) Longitude (degree) Depth Magnitude Region Name 01:42 JST 15 May 2006 34.2N 135.2E 10km 4.5 WAKAYAMAHOKUBU

It felt like a quick little bump, like a hard gust of wind hitting a sitting car. I don’t think it even woke up my host Mom. I was awake however and turned on the TV in the other room to see the notice that’s flashed on the top of the screen every time an earthquake occurs anywhere in Japan. A news blurb on the hour showed video footage from a live camera in Wakayama, looked like they got some good shaking--but not like any damage. So I’m going to bed now.

Edit: I asked my host Mom if she felt the earthquake and she said she didnt't. She really is a sound sleeper, no wonder I haven't woken her up coming home late at night!

No more 日本語

Today I had my Japanese final and with that my Japanese classes ended. I only have 2 papers to turn in, one presentation before I am done with university! So weird.

今日日本語の期末試験僕をして日本語の授業をおわった。僕も2枚作文と1つ発表さえ出る毎に僕の大学生活を終わってしまいました。ちょとう変。

就職しているのは大変ね。

I’ve got a job interview! Wow! Super fast too. It’s at a language school in Wakayama city, about an hour and thirty minutes from downtown Osaka. Seems like a nice place to live, I don’t know about the school yet... I guess I’m going to find out on Saturday! Ack! There are also a few other places that seem like I would like to try to get an interview with so this isn’t my only chance, but it’s a good start!

On another note... My Japanese finals continue tomorrow with the kanji and reading. Bleh! I have tried to study for it tonight but I don’t know if it has helped. I hope I don’t do too bad.

Here's what Wakayama city looks like from space
